Andrew,
AFIAK, I haven't heard of 7.0.16 running on AIX 4.2.5 (or is it 4.2.1?). When moving databases, the best thing to do is Export/Import. If you have a time delay between the time you can move/setup databases between US and Australia, then it is better to do a full Export for the first cutover, ship it on a tape, followed by daily *Incremental* exports via FTP until you catch up. I am sure Archive logs on one version would never run against the other. We had moved a 8Gb 7.0.15 AIX 3.2.5 database to 7.3.2 on AIX 4.1.5 within 8 hours using Export/Import once the database files/tbsps were pre-created. Of couse, the Incrementals solution is dependent on line speeds and sizes!
