What is probably more important is to first make sure that ALL the hardware is
on the NT HAL and is not cheap OEM stuff. NT can be a pig for an Oracle database
if cost savings translate to an unstable OS platform. Be warned.....
Multiple instances are fine and worked on an NT box which contained 4 (5
possibly ?) Designer 200 Respositories as separate instances with circa 40
developers hitting them pretty heavily. The only problesm tended to be those of
NT's reduced apparent performance compared with similar spec Unix platforms.
(HP-UX also on site at the same time)
