Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> ORA-00600: Index produces timeout ?
(I am a bit afraid that this is going to be a newbie question, alas here goes
(I got little pride :) ):I have a problem with an Oracle database, that I
inherited frommy predecessor. The database runs into ORA-00600 Internal
Errors on certain simple selects (like SELECT * from A where x=6 and y=2) and
the cure so far has been to remove indexes from A.
If the indexes are brought back, the errors come back. The error IMO is a timeout.
What I've got is:
Oracle7 Server Release 7.3.2.2.0 - Production Release
With the distributed option
PL/SQL Release 2.3.2.2.0 - Production
SunOS 5.5.1 Generic sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-1
Now my suspicion is, that the database is broken. My idea isto export the whole database and import it back, hoping that by that internal f&%kups are smoothed out.
Is this a good idea ? Or is there something going wrong on a conceptual level ? Is there some sort of integrity check toolavailable ? I checked thru the dox, various FAQs, DejaNews and AltaVistabut so far nothing panned out. I didn't contact Oracle yet. Thanks in advance for any feedback.
