more than one database

All,

I have a slight problem. I have just installed an oracle7 database on an Indigo2 High Impact, IRIX 6.2 machine. That went well no probs. However I want to keep two instances up at the same time. I have another databaase created and I can start one or the other, but not both. Any ideas? I guess what I probably need is some sort of mini checklist to see if I am missing anything. Any help would be appreciated,
