Why is it that the only way these Linux people can push their product is through complete fabrication and total falsehood? Can't the product stand up to real analysis and facts? If you have to lie to make your point, then the point isn't worth making.
If 'atomboy' is a sample of the kind of individual that uses this environment, then I think I'll stay as far away from it as I can.

The number of database vendors is expected to fall as the market consolidates. Meta, Giga, etc. all agree on this point.

Why can't people write English? Is it too hard to capitalize proper nouns? I think this lazy approach to communication is indicative of the lazy approach to rational thought exhibited in the note.

Last year the amount of data stored in mainframe databases grew by a larger amount than in any previous year. Even licenses of DB2 grew by 7% in the MVS world. I am sure the same can be said of the UNIX world, but I don't have the numbers in front of me.

The Merced chip will run RISC systems. That is the whole point. Both HP and Sun will be using it. To run Linux? I think not.

I have a question for 'atomboy'. What color is the sky on your planet?

Today Oracle has roughly the same installed base on NT as SQL Server. It performs as good as if not better than SQL Server in all aspects. Look at the published TCP C and D numbers. The statement above is patently false, as anyone who bothers to look can tell.--
