Yes. You need to have a DLM (distributed lock manager) to run OPS. On some platforms it is an add-on piece of software, and on others it is built into the kernel. In addition the hardware needs to be able to support the DLM - I'm not a hardware mackey but with OPS you have your database and tablespaces spread across various disks on more than one machine. The machines (or nodes) need to be able to communicate with each other to get data [and *no* NFS is *not* a good idea ;-)], or alternatively have to share the same SCSI channels. (or something like that)

OPS can also run on a NT cluster. I tried to create a cluster on my little LAN at home but it seems that it only supports specific types of hardware and not your ordinary DIY PC... :-(

But once OPS is working, and working properly, one word : SMOOKINNGG! [he says in his best Jim Carrey voice] :-)
