Greetings everyone,
I hope that the combined expertise out there can assist me in a problem that I am having. Currently, I have two servers running Oracle 7.1 on Windows NT 3.51 server. The servers have dual Pentium Pro 200's with 512Mb RAM and fast disk arrays. The problem that I am having is that one of the two instances on one server will occasionally die. I have to use the instance manager to restart it. Now, I do not believe that the hardware is the problem because when running perfmon on NT the system seems to have plenty of available resources..... Now, I currently have no service packs installed on NT, so, this is one possible solution. But, on the second server with the same hardware configuration, I have only one instance running and it never dies. I know that some will say the solution is to upgrade to NT 4.0 and a newer version of Oracle. However, some of the custom applications that we have will not port easily to the newer versions of either. In the meantime, I would greatly appreciate any suggestions. Please email me with any ideas.
Thanx in advance
