Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> Auto Shutdown 8.0.3/NT Gets Invalid Password
Hi all. Just got 8.0.3 out of the box & am trying to configure IMMEDIATE shutdown to occur with each NT service shutdown, using the new registry settings ORA_sid_SHUTDOWN and ORA_SHUTDOWN.
It ALMOST works; first invokes Server Manager to do the immediate shutdown, but then gets an "invalid password" error. It looks like it is generating a random INTERNAL password that is supposed to override the existing password, and be valid only for the length of the shutdown. It does work if I hardcode the existing INTERNAL password into Oracle's shutdown script, but surely this isn't the desirable solution.
Is there some other registry setting (I.E., DBA_AUTHORIZATION) that I should use? Or is this a known bug? I couldn't find additional info in the documentation.
Thanks for any help,
J.A. King
