SNMP API for OEM and Oracle MIB

Please help! I am trying to write an intelligent agent that will run on several platforms, Solaris, AIX, HP, and NT. This agent must be able to communicate with the Oracle instance and "discover" some interesting things. It should be able to tell a client about how much "free" space is available in its tablespaces, etc. I can probably create some PL/SQL code to look at the V$ stuff and send back answers somehow. I have read that Oracle is SNMP complient and that there is an Oracle MIB giving interesting info. My question is this: Where do I find a description of the Oracle MIB? Is this the best way of attacking this problem, ie. via SNMP calls? What Oracle software do I need to have for this? I have read a little bit about Oracle Enterprise Manager. I want to be able to use some of the API calls to OEM because I think that most of the functionality that I want is found in it.
