You can do it as you described. Of course you'll need SQL*Net v.2.x to utilize MTS. There was some discussion some time ago in this newsgroup about when to use MTS. Some postings noted that MTS may be the way to go when there is more than 100 concurrent users. For less using dedicated servers may give better result.
