Q: tkprof output

I have a couple of questions about the output from tkprof:

  1. How do I find the elapsed time between when I began tracing and stopped? Is it the overall time for the non-recursive statements? Or is the sum of the overall times for the non-recursive and recursive statements?
  2. I notice that the sum of the elapsed times for the individual statements does not equal either of the overall times. Why is this?
  3. I think 2) is because some of the stored procedures are doing SQL statements, and I'm getting statistics for the store procedure call and the nested SQL statement. In this case, does the elapsed time for the stored procedure include the elapsed time for the nested statements?

Any insight would be appreciated. Please email responses, in addition to posting. Thanks!
