I had a similar problem recently.


I was outputting trace files from SQL*Plus 3.3 on an NT Workstation 3.51 PC
connected to a 7.2.... instance running on an RS6000 AIX box . When I tried
using SQL*Plus 3.2 it was OK.!!!!


I have had NO explanation for this and can only, therefore, suggest that
you shop around for a different release of SQL*Plus.
