A bug with Oracle 7.3 and PL/SQL v2.3

Hello people !!

Does anybody out there have any solutions / patches for Oracle bug # 418302 (Oracle Support's got a number for it). As per Oracle Support, this is a PL/SQL v2.3 bug (which was introduced with Oracle7.3).

This seems to happen whenever the shared_pool gets full and also it depends on the type of applications being run. It gives "ORA-6502 - PL/SQL : numeric or value error". The only workable "solution" seems to be : ALTER SYSTEM FLUSH SHARED_POOL. But the impact of flushing the shared pool on performance is really bad. We are running a bunch of Pro*C and PL/SQL routines as web CGIs.

If anyone has encountered this peculiar problem and has a workaround or a solution, please share it with us. Many thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Venkat
