They wont. The'll pay Windows prices. If the RDBMS vendors don't bring their prices down, they'll all lose out to MS SQL server anyway. When Oracle release their Linux version, it will be cheaper than other Unix versions or it won't sell. I reckon it'll be about the same as the Windows version.

It isn't the single one off cost of the OS that's the problem. It's the 2000 user license that is expensive.
