From: Brian Motzer Subject: Pro*C slowdown after upgrade? Date: 1997/05/05 Message-ID: <336EAA80.41F8@spacestar.com>#1/1 Organization: Spacestar Communications, Minneapolis, MN, USA Newsgroups: comp.databases.oracle.server Help! We have just upgraded from Oracle 7.2 to 7.3 on a Sun/Solaris Sparc 2000. After the upgrade we noticed a performance problem with Pro*C programs that had been running fine. What used to run in 2 hours is now running in 6-8 hours. As an experiment I wrote a simple pl/sql update program to update 10,000 rows in a table. This took 2 minutes. We then took the EXACT same script in placed it in a Pro*C program. The program ran in 12 minutes. We've repeated this test over and over with the same results. Oracle support is lost and has since sent us a patch which they thought would solve the problem but it hasn't. Has anybody else ran into this? Any help would be appreciated. Yes, we have recompiled all Pro*C programs after upgrading and applying the patch.
