We find that PQO gives benefits mainly in the the data warehousing/ decision support style stuff, but negligible benefits for our day to day OLTP stuff...

But remember that PQO also gives major benefits for those operations that are not necessarily conducted when the users are on the system:

  1. index creation/rebuild
  2. data loading thru SQL Loader
  3. data recovery

all which may reduce downtime either planned or unplanned...
