Revoking DBA privileges - response

You can revoke the privileges without impact to the user without impacting your database. What you revoke will depend primarily on the version of the database you are using. If you just granted them DBA, then revoke DBA, be sure that they don't have other DBA-like privileges such as SYSDBA (used in server manager and enterprise manager). If the user exists in just the database (he/she doesn't have an operating system account) then you are done, otherwise, as the other response stated, be sure that the user doesn't have the capability of connecting internal or using sysdba privileges.
