Is this a "bad" thing ? Depending on the number you cache, the benefits of the fast select may far outweigh the lost numbers. Also, if I am not mistaken, Oracle will only go out and grab the next set of numbers when it runs out. Therefore, the only time you would lose the entire set of numbers is if the crash or shutdown occurs right after a refresh. Heck, you may only lose a few.

Just my two cents....
