I have successfully tried it. However, We have 43 tables and on an average 4 datafiles per tablespace. This is current situation. It could and possibly will change. And, there are few more reasons as follows, due to which I would like to make this process easier.

  1. Minimize user/dev/dba's work for spreading extents to different files to minimize errors and utilize this time for better things.
  2. I am in process of defining defrag process i.e. export/import probably once every year. If I do not automate table spreading then every defrag exercise will create one one big extent for all tables.
