Q: 3-up labels using DECODE

Some time ago I read in some technical magazine or journal an example of using DECODE to format a column of a table so that it displayed three columns across the page. I can't find this example for the life of me. I think it operated on the rownum.

If anyone remembers seeing this code, would you please cite the source or send a copy of the code please?
