Don't know if this is a standard test but, try testing the site from a Black and white workstation. Yeah, it might be hard to come by a black and white only monitor.

Long ago working from a SUN B&W workstation, I visited a site which looked all black. Well it was one of the first color sites, and they used lots of dark reds and blues.
