You'll have to check with Oracle documentation whether raw devices are supported on your brand of Linux. See

Basically, if they are supported, you don't mount the device but point Oracle directly at the device. That way all file system overhead is saved while still employing caching (on Linux as far as I know; it's different on other *nixes).
