Thanks a lot Sim & Barbara for timely reply.
I was thinking in the lines of creating a view and then using it.
Barabara's soln seems to use DENSE_RANK Oracle SQL function.



I'll try and measure execution time and resource usage for both the
queries. It's importnat for us that response time stay below 500ms.
