I agree that if the remote system goes down it is beyond your control. But either (1) the remote system isn't going down but you have manufactured this explanation because it seems plausible, or (2) it is going down and the fact that it is needs to be addressed.
Unless you are in a third-world country your concern about the electric company shutting off the power seems obfuscatory at best.
I've given my best advice, Sybrand has said I believe, the same thing. Stop fighting symptoms and address the root cause. Your Quixotic quest for profile modification is not going to work.
