I tried to use occi, too. Never really got it running. If you can use .NET-Framework I would recommend using the ODP.NET, it works like a charme easy to understand and integrates smoothly into Visual Studio .Net. Other possibility is to use oci from within c++, but if you are already on the object-oriented train that's not the best option...
