My first attempt to post errored off. Sometimes the post show up anyway and sometimes they do not.

If would be helpful if you posted any Oracle or OS error messages that were available. Since you said the machine crashed what messages if any appear in the OS system logs?

Do any error messages appear in the alert.log?

At one time the Oracle installation guide for this product included instructions to modify the table settings for two RDBMS base tables that hold package information prior to performing the installation. If this is still required the alert log should show an unable to extend message on one or more base (sys.xxx$) tables.
