Multiple Users, Access 97, locked DB problem

Here is the deal.  We have three machines running Access 97 against a
Oracle 9i backend.  8.1.7.4 drivers.  Each client can link to the
database, but while that client is in, the others are not able to get
in.  The client unlinks from the database, the other client can get in
- but only one at a time.  The database had no problems of this nature
until recently when a table was added.  Can anyone shed any light?
