I just thought you might have had some comments from the WebDB 2.x (or earlier) days. I happen to like the product, but I'm heavily biased & was hoping for a more balanced opinion - from someone who understands PL/SQL and mod_PLSQL <g>.

It might be - but I'm in the same camp. Every time I teach a J2EE or App Server course I mention that there should be a careful evaluation to ensure that they are not reinventing the wheel.

Things like the attempt to reinvent XA frustrate me, and recent analyst reports confirm my suspicion that the J2EE path simply moves complexity and maintenance cost from code to configuration. That means multiple 'languages' to learn, even if the config language is 'supposed to' be mainly in the deployer's arena.
