Something to aspire to but you'll need the following qualifications:

  1. CS degree
  2. A minimum of three and preferably 5 years of experience as a SysAdmin or Developer
  3. Solid background in UNIX
  4. Solid background in Web Server / App Server
  5. Some background in Java, XML, SOAP, etc. . . .
  6. A clear understanding that the DBA jobs, as they exist in 2003, will be ancient history by the time you graduate. Prepare for the future ... not the past.
