Hy there

due to my study on a universitiy i have to learn SQL and Oracle. I tried to install Oracle 9i Personal Edition (9.2.0.1 or something) on a WinXP Prof. machine. I ran in trouble with this. The first prob was, that something for the java thin client cant be written to the harddisk. Ok i skipped that package i dont need it. All went ok. But every time i tried to create a database some strange errors occured. The first error was "CreateProcess: null -new -sid TESTDB -startmode m error=2". What does that mean? And the second error that appeared more than once is ORA-12560. Thats very cryptic to me... So my question are there problems with WinXP prof. or is it my failure? Should i try Win2k prof. ver.?

hope somebody can give me a useful hint

bye

marcus

PS: sorry for my bad english, but there is no oracle group in my motherlanguage Received on Fri Oct 24 2003 - 10:44:29 CDT
