Oracle, please, come up with a client install that doesn't require OUI, your own version of the JDK, all the silly assistants, etc. In my ideal world there would be:

  1. Minimum requirements for client application support (libclntsh.so, the config files in network/admin, whatever the full set of normal shared libraries are.
  2. Configuration A + sqlplus, tnsping, a few other non-java utilities.
  3. Full Developer configuration.

It's truly annoying to have to install a half-gig worth of crap to use a simple application that has to connect to the database. My guess is that MOST client installations can be <<100M with all they usually use.
