What sort of DBA doesn't allow PL/SQL in the database ? After all, Triggers are PL/SQL.

Sounds like a 'manager' at my last job who refused to allow triggers or referential integrity in the database because (a) he preferred it in the application and (b) he doesn't like anything 'automatic' going on in 'his' database.

Once I demonstrated how to bollox up his precious data by not allowing triggers/RI - he still refused to change his mind. Quoting 'no-one will be using SQLPlus to amend data' - how little he knows.

Cheers,
Norman.

PS. Good luck with your DBA - it sounds like he takes his role far too literally and is not even going to consider a comprmise. DBAs *must* talk to developers, designers etc at all stages of the designe, build and implimentation of a project. Received on Thu Sep 11 2003 - 02:43:45 CDT
