There is no oracle version there.

This one shows you the instance version.
For example i have 9.2 software and 8.1.7 datafiles. 9.2 would be in v$version after database mounted, but is 8.1.7 recorded anywhere?

database

I know all the datafiles anyway.
P.S. After creating control file I'm trying to open database (migrate) but having:
ORA-00402: database changes by release 9.2.0.0.0 cannot be used by release
8.1.0.0.0
ORA-00405: compatibility type "Locally Managed SYSTEM tablespace"
If I set compatible=8.1.7 then the message changes and displays
ORA-00402: database changes by release 9.2.0.0.0 cannot be used by release
8.1.7.0.0
ORA-00405: compatibility type "Locally Managed SYSTEM tablespace"
