As far as I can see the only big advantage of Oracle is multi-platform I am amazed there is no serious competitors in the UNIX / LINUX arena

One would be crazy to use Oracle on a Windows platform. MS SQL has come a long way & is cheaper & of course tightly integrated with MS-OSes
Now I am not exactly a big Microsoft fan (in fact I would like to see another
OS to compete with MS)

I am also not sure if they have cornered the market. MS is catching up fast Unless of course they break MS into 10000 pieces
