Are you in the market for an RDBMS or an ERP solution? I gather from your original post, and the article that you posted, is that you are confusing Oracle Applications (ERP) with Oracle RDBMS. I am not aware of PostGreSQL as being an ERP player. If they are then they are nowhere to be found on Gartner's four quadrants.

Oracle RDBMS and Applications (ERP) are two separate products from Oracle. Although Oracle's bread and butter is RDBMS and can/will/should spank PostGreSQL's rear end all day long... they have had issues with their ERP application installations which is mentioned in the article that you posted... specifically the California deal.
