Java 1.4 + Oracle java 1.1.8 can they coexist ?

I've installed the latest Java1.4.1 after installing Oracle Personal 9i 
on W98se. I seem to be unable to get any Java IDE (intellij, netbeans, 
beginjawa)to install/work, and I suspect a conflict between the 2 java 
versions.




I've tried deleting the oracle jre path from autoexec.bat, with no 
effect.



Can this be made to work ?
