Since you refer to oradim80, I assume you're on a Windows box, though it's the same command on Solaris. If you open a DOS window and type "orapwd" (without quotes), you'll see the usage of this command. Whatever you specify as the password is what is used with svrmgrl.

You might also want to get used to using "sqlplus /nolog" followed by "connect...as sysdba" since svrmgrl will not work once you move to 9i.
