I think ease of use is in the eye of the beholder. Those that learned Oracle before CASE will likely believe the opposite. Those that came to Oracle from other languages that had case will likely agree. But CASE vs DECODE is not the subject of my request as I was familiar with CASE long before DECODE.

What I am specifically looking for is something in writing from Oracle supporting the statement that Oracle is deprecating DECODE. I teach Oracle at the University of Washington and if this is true affects the curriculum.

Thanks to all and especially to anyone that can definitively answer the question.
