Thanks for the Link. Lots of good stuff there! As I reported in my original post the link was failing mostly as a result of not being able to find the libclntsh.so library file. What I found is that this file is not unpacked from the 9i AS CD's we got from Oracle. However, being new to all this, I didn't give up, and I put the 9i Database CD in and installed just the Oracle client. Sure enough the libclntsh.so file materialized.

After making sure I had the Oracle Home and LD_LIBRARY_PATH and PATH variables correct, (I decided to leave the Client Installed which means that I would now have two separate Oracle Homes) I un-installed and then re-installed 9i AS and now the Installer Link process completes successfully. I'm still having a bit of trouble getting the Web Cache Running but i think the info in the above Link(s) will help resolve that problem.
