May be OT: Char Set problems

I'm not sure if this is an Oracle problem or PHP. Basically, Oracle 8.1.6
returns the following error when a bind operation is attempted withing PHP
(apologies for going a bit OT):



PLS-00553: character set name is not recognized
ORA-06550: line 0, column 0:



I don't have any Char Sets declated in either the Oracle users environment
or in the env used by PHP.



Any ideas wrt Oracle?
