Memory, not enough of it. Try disabling not needed daemons, don't create database in X windows (KDE or GNOME) but save the config with DBCA at the end of the choosing db options, dialog will appear:

Creation Options
[ ] Create Database
[x] Save as Database Template

"If you select a template with datafiles, you will be able to save the database creation information as a template or script. You can run the script later to create a new database."
