Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.misc -> Re: ORACLE -> registry -> multiple homes
Ok, you wonder WHY I would like to know HOW Oracle uses the Registry.
An example:
You know the registry setting TNS_ADMIN?
Ok, I use it to point Oracle to 1 central location where a tnsnames can be
found.
While I do not EXACTLY know how Oracle uses the registry for me it is
a kind of ' trial and error' until oracle (say Forms) 'sees' the setting.
By understanding the registry and the way Oracle uses it I would get more
control
and I would know where to put certain settings.
Can you tell me when I start a product (say for exmple SQLPLUS in a
Oracle-home DEV_HOME)
where (tree/subtree) Oracle looks for the corresponing registry settings?
