And the order you stop and start can be critical..
( Before stopping by way of the service, shutdown Oracle using svrmgrl - While stopping the service does do a fairly clean
shutdown, I am a little paranoid about data file corruption due to bad shutdowns , so I do the shutdown immediate first)
Then ( from the services applet),
stop the database service
Stop any agents or caches
Stop listener
To start, reverse the order
then , if you instance is not configured to start automatically, use svrmgrl to start it..
