Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.misc -> OO4O Oracle Data Control - Version Question
Cross posted to comp.databases.oracle.misc & comp.lang.basic.visual.misc
In another thread in comp.lang.basic.visual.misc, Dan E suggested using the subject data control instead of ADO & ODBC for getting access to and modifying Oracle table data from a Visual Basic 6 application.
I've looked at the Oracle Technet notes on OO4O at http://otn.oracle.com/tech/windows/ole/content.html and, coupled with Dan's remarks on speed, it looks rather promising.
From the download section, however, one seems to need to be able to distinguish between different versions of Oracle Net Client. If I use the OO4O download for the 8.05 client, will this still work with users who have later versions of net client?
At our organization, we have a mix of folks using the much older 7.3.4 Oracle Net Client (which is difficult to get rid of) and the less older 8.05. Eventually, we'll be going to 9i.
Thanks very much in advance for any guidance on the above.
