If I may, it sounds like you are treating an Oracle database with the same mentality as an Access database in that you can copy the database from one PC to the other just by copying a file and opening it with a double click. If this is your thinking then you really need to find some documentation and do some reading because you have a lot to learn.

On the other hand, if you have installed oracle, created yourself a database and understand how to shutdown and startup this database then you just may be able to import the DMP file you have.

Yes, older version of a DMP file can be read or IMPorted into a newer version of the database. You WILL! encounter errors in the process. You will need to be able to decipher the messages and know if they are bad or acceptable.
