The problem with suggesting that the question is posted in the mysql group is that mysql programmers may not know what his old oracle code is doing, and therefore cannot suggest how to accomplish this in mysql. (a common catch 22 when asking for help in moving from one thing to another).

Perhaps he suspects that some of them have used both types of databases.
