Hi Steve,

I too had the problem u had faced and when surfing the web for a solution, i saw ur query. I had solved the problem now and I thought I should share it with you.

Before installing Oracle remove or disable all memory resident programs especially aniti-virus. Incase you had already installed Oracle and u r facing the similar problem in creating a database try the above work around. I hope this helps.
