Michael,
Actually my system tablespace alone is 200 - 300MB when I create database
instances. You really need several Gb to do a complete install - though you
can remove the copies of the 3 install CDs after you are done - if you don't
think that you will need to go back and install anything else.
By the way, this weekend I went to a local electronics store and found that
they were selling 60Gb drives for $79. They actually were having a sale on
one model and the 60Gb drive (IBM or Maxtor - I don't remember which) was
less expensive than the 30Gb drives from the same manufacturer.
