grrrrrr. windows 2000 sp2 for both clients and server. two of the clients are actually servers themselves (an app server and a web server IIS5 ). The Oracle version is 8.1.7.3 both client and server. network cards are gbit ethernet though running at 100/full duplex in what maybe a vain attempt to help matters out.
