Hi Craig,

For using Oracle database as back-end you could know SQL. But Oracle isn’t database only. Oracle also produces application server and set of development tools suitable for creating web interface. There are:

Oracle Portal – part of application server. Very good tools for creating web portal for storing documents, creating html forms, reports, charts, granting access to different groups of users, etc. If your application won’t be very complicated I recommend you use Oracle Portal.
JDeveloper – java IDE. It includes high-level libraries and wizards for creating jsp or applet clients for Oracle
Oracle Developer – It’s collection of development tools: forms, reports etc. They could work in browsers as java applets and suitable for intranet applications.
You can write Web interface on PL/SQL manually (internal Oracle language) or generate it automatically by Oracle Designer.
